Election of Chairmen of the ICCs

A proposal in the Executive Committee to elect members of the executive to be Chairmen of the International Class Committees (ICCs) has succeeded. They are as follows:

Marblehead Chairman: Matteo Longhi (also RO Europe)

A Class Chairman: Glenn Dawson (also RO Oceania)

10R Chairman: Selwyn Holland (also General Secretary)

This is a step in the aim to develop international class status for these later in the form of International Class Associations (ICAs).  The reason that the positions at this stage are filled by members of the IRSA Executive is that the constitution is basically a regional based not a class based document. But the EC can create any committee it sees as important, so the way around this issue was for these members of the EC to volunteer to take charge of the class committees (ICCs) for the moment. We do intend to ask permission of the IRSA members through the revised constitution in the future to rearrange the EC positions to allow for full class committee status on the EC while the committees are being developed into independent class associations. This will also allow us to help other rising classes to become internationally more efficient in the future. All part of promoting the sport and helping classes to be self determining if they wish.

Notice to IRSA Members

Final versions of the revised class rules and accompanying measurement forms and certification material that become effective on 1st July are now available on the IRSA website.

Minor errors have been edited out.  If any errors remain, please let the Chairman of the Technical Committee know.

A significant change for the M and A Classes is that un-protected blank space is introduced on measurement forms and certification material where local language translation of the official English language text can be introduced.  Versions for the Ten Rater Class with blank space for local translation will follow in due course.

Please note that the only valid certificates that may be issued under the new rules are those produced using this certification material.  Local adaptions, re-arrangements, or edits are not permitted.

Please direct any questions regarding the class rules or use of this material to the Chairman of the Technical Committee.
